Photoduplication Service: MSU Accounts Only

The Photoduplication Service provides copies of journal articles and book chapters to patrons for their personal research and charges the cost to that person’s University account. Main Library documents will be sent through ILLiad (electronic delivery to the desktop).

To submit a request, logon to the Libraries' ILLiad system. The Photoduplication form follows the regular interlibrary request forms. Telephone requests are not accepted. Questions about this service should be directed to InterLibrary Services at 517.432.6123, x303.

PLEASE NOTE: Copyright Guidelines prohibit the Library from photocopying multiple articles from the same issue of a journal.

Pricing

A charge is assessed for checking the call number, retrieving the item from the shelves, and scanning the requested article or chapter. The service is limited to charges against University accounts.

The pricing structure as of September 1, 2004 is as follows:

All Requests - $5.00

If an article cannot be scanned successfully, a photocopy will be made at the above rates and the article will be mailed to you.

Requests are typically satisfied in 2 to 3 days. Please assist us in maintaining relatively quick service by observing the following procedural guidelines:

  1. This service is for items which the MSU Libraries own. To determine whether an item is owned, please search the catalog, or call Library Information at 517.353.8700.
  2. All requests must be submitted via the ILLiad service forms on the Web.
  3. Only one request per order form will be accepted. Multiple requests on a single form will be returned.
  4. Each request must have a University account number.
  5. The following bibliographic information must be included:
    • For journal articles, supply the journal title, volume and issue number, date, pages to be copied, and author and title of the article desired.
    • For a book chapter, supply the author and title of the book, the publisher, date of publication, author and title of the chapter needed and pages to be copied.

NB: Incomplete or incorrect citations cannot be processed.

  6. Requests are handled as they are received.
  7. If the MSU copy is unavailable at the time of the request we will arrange to obtain it from another library at no cost to you.
